The Loafers are BACK!

I'm just gonna throw it out there, I don't know shit about basketball.
I've been to a handful of Warrior games in my life and was a fan of the Chicago Bulls in 2nd grade. My high school's basketball team were State Champs and probably still are to this day; showing my school spirit for a school known to recruit junior high kids, I ended up attending quite a few games and wore my alma mater's colors of black and gold with pride...sort of. I've loved and played sports most of my life, but that's about as far as my passion for the game goes. However, I must admit that basketball is one of the more exciting sports to watch, and what better way to venture towards new horizons in the blogosphere than with a fan page dedicated to some of my favorite people in BECA-The Don Johnson's Loafers Basketball Team!!! That being said, let's give a little bit of Loafer history, shall we?

The Loafers don't have the greatest success rate when it comes to winning games. In fact, the only game they ever won was when the other team forfeited thus winning by default. However, the Loafers have easily won the hearts of BECA students and fans alike, with their past and present members, those of which have been known to trailblaze the courts adorned in Bill Cosby sweaters and make outlandish displays of anger towards opposing teammates and referees. But who's to say they don't have talent? This year they're back and better than ever! Let's start with game 1:

I really wasn't sure what to expect, but the game got off to a great start. The Loafers made a couple points and actually seemed to be dominating the court for a good amount of time, before the other team started a tug-of-war in terms of offensive strategy. The teams seemed pretty evenly matched, although the opposing team would prove to have tremendous lay-up skills as well as defensive back-handing-that-orange-thang outta there skills. In the end the Loafers went away with a 19-41 loss, but they broke their record of 16 points.

Highlights:
-Mike Krems forceably chest bumping a guy on the other team into oblivion, almost getting into a fight
-Mike Krems' jump shot
-Tyler Wall's defensive and offensive abilities and overall hussle on the court
and the moment of the game goes to...
-Guy on the other team who almost PARALYZED himself by landing on the floor with his HEAD while bending/almost snapping his NECK all the while trying to bulldoze a Loafer. In the words of the referee "That is not smart basketball."

The DJLoafs play wednesday nights in the Calonico Center or the adjacent gym usually around 9 or 10pm. Please come support the Loafers and check out their *OFFICIAL* facebook page for more details!
