Bas-ket-ball

Greetings Loafer fans! My my my it has been quite the season. The Loafers played a total of 6 or so games...you can really tell I did my research. Actually, I did do my research, but my pocket-sized notebook with all the Loafer stats and game facts seems to have mysteriously disappeared from my life. The last game I attended was not the final game, although the final game was the last game. Make sense? Let me go ahead and break down the second to last game:
The Loafers were facing their rivals of the season. Why were they rivals? Well, for one, it was the first team they played in a long series of agonizing defeat. During the first game the Loafers were at their peak. Not necessarily physically or technically, but emotionally. The first game is full of hope, as if luck were gliding on the rim of a shiny red hoop, soaring wistfully across a freshly waxed floor and falling delicately on the hands and feet of an angel, one with invisible wings who you wouldn't mind eating thai food with. You're not sure why your jersey resembles something a 4th grader in P.E. would wear, or why you're only sweating from one leg. But the feeling is there, in the air, my fellow fans! Sure some guy on the other team (YOU'RE GOING DOWN!) is wearing patented teal, black, and white sneakers. Doesn't he know how bright and eye catching those are!? The Loafers wear sweatbands, knee socks, and occasionally a pair of cargo shorts. But another reason for this rivalry involves part bad sportsmanship, part OH NO YOU DIDN'T. It was the team infamous for trash talking on the court. Who could ever say negative things about our beloved Loafers? How DARE they! They deserve to be dressed up as giant orange globes and mocked at along a line of whistle drawn referees. Aside from that, let us focus now on the arteries of such a tender and capricious game: the players. No, the teammates. Before the game, I caught up with key guard Marco Fernandez to shed some light on the anxieties of being one of the DJ Loaf's most valued players.

Ahhh don't you just love the aesthetic of vertically rotated videos? I know I do! Except for that's a total lie and I really just made this on my Droid. I usually don't make videos on my phone and I'm sure there is a way correct the awkward angle, but alas, this is all I have to show for. Marco brought up some very interesting points though. As a key guarder, one must secure the entire perimeter of the key on the basketball court, which can definitely cause some frustration. So much so that Marco later admitted before the last game of the season, "I love the Loafers, but I can't stand another loss." Simply heartbreaking.

During the game "The Players" - couldn't they have thought up a more original moniker? - dominated the court. However, Loafers Max Schreiber and Marco Fernandez made some outstanding shots, while Tyler Wall amazed everyone with his under-the-leg dribble skills.
Highlights of the game: No one got seriously injured

In other news, State of Events anchor Colin Lygren was spotted at the game.

Listen Live

This just in! Loafer games now live on KSFS's "The Deuce" The Deuce was started by none other than Charles "Big Poppa" Palmore in the Spring of 2009(?) and has been used as the alternative stream to KSFS main stream ever since for sports broadcasting. Recently, KSFS has acquired a remote rack which will make it easier and more efficient to set up The Deuce from virtually any location with an ethernet connection - wireless coming in the future. For those of you who are not sure what a remote rack consists of, it includes your basic audio necessities for a live broadcast: a mixer, microphones, and transmitter via the internet.
